There are few urban environments where the air quality is poorer than under a city flyover and the Hammersmith flyover is no exception. The solution: over 95m of Living Green Screens in custom made planters. These pollution reducing screens are part of Hammersmith BID's Business Low Emission Neighbourhood and funded by Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
Meristem returned to St Peter’s Eaton Square C of E School in the heart of London for a second phase of Pollution Reducing Green Screens to improve air quality in the playground for its pupils, staff, parents and visitors.
Meristem installed 25m of 1m high Hedera Helix Woerner Green Screens in bespoke powder-coated steel planters.
We also added an an internal Live Picture filled with 6 fern varieties at the top of the stairs where it can enjoy maximum visibility from the children and staff.
If your school is in a polluted area of London then you will be eligible to apply for grant funding to cover the cost of Green Screens from the Mayor’s office. We also supply custom made planters and automated irrigation system with on-going maintenance.
In London alone there are over 700 schools that are eligible for funding. If your school is next to a busy road then it may well be eligible. If you are not sure whether your school is on the list then contact us now.
