Christopher Hatton Primary School

At Christopher Hatton Primary School Meristem installed more than the traditional ivy green screens. Over three phases green screens bordering the playground, planters, trellis systems, indoor window planters and two live pictures were all installed at the school. Greenery was incorporated throughout the interior and exterior of the school.

Christopher Hatton Primary is in Holborn, London, making it a high risk area for extreme levels of air pollution. Approximately 12,800 vehicles per day travel on the core roads within a 200m radius of the school. With the greenery now installed, the school now has successfully reduced its air pollution levels.

A recent study by Defra and the GLA shows that the use of Green Screens at schools successfully reduced air pollution by “up to 36% and 41% for NO2 and PM10, respectively”.
