We have recently completed several Healthy School Streets in the London Borough of Camden.
A school street is a road outside a school that has a temporary restriction on motorised traffic at the start and the end of the school day. The restriction applies to both school traffic and through traffic between 8:15am and 9:30am and 3-4pm.
Although COVID-19 is disrupting the lifestyles of those around the world, this could be the year cities are transformed into safer, healthier spaces, serving local businesses and residents. People within cities are seen cycling and walking more during this time, with likely trends of active transport continuing after lockdown measures are ceased.
We are delighted our Parklets won a Healthy Streets Award last Friday for the Best Healthy Streets Improvement District Project.
This was a joint application with Hammersmith BID for our Business Parklets on Hammersmith Grove, which are part of a wider initiative to deliver green spaces, cleaner air and promote cycling.
