Imperial College London’s Outdoor Study Hubs

Imperial’s major new campus in West London is bringing together scientific researchers, corporate partners and entrepreneurs globally to co-create in White City.

As part of their new development, they also wanted to create some new Outdoor Study Hubs to allow students and the corporate partners to socialise and hold meetings surrounded by greenery.

Therefore, we designed and installed a series of Parklets with our first ever pitched green roofs and timber pergolas. The sedum roof and planting scheme includes a large selection of species to attract pollinators. The climbers (wisteria and jasmine) will create a lush green pergola to the front sections of the Parklets.

They include seating and high tables to enable students to work and socialise with each other in the heart of the campus. We also installed a series of planters and green screens around the campus to add further greenery.

Numerous studies show the biophilic benefits of planting in the workplace, including improved creativity and productivity.
