Project overview
Located just off Shoreditch High Street, the Calvert Avenue Parklet introduces a calm, green retreat within one of East London’s most vibrant and fast-paced urban environments. Designed and delivered by Meristem Design, the parklet transforms a section of roadway into a welcoming, nature-led space for residents, workers and visitors alike.
Delivered as part of the Low Emission Neighbourhood (LEN) City Fringe initiative, the project is a collaborative effort between Hackney, Islington and Tower Hamlets councils, supported by the Mayor of London. It contributes to a wider vision of cleaner air, increased cycling and more accessible green infrastructure across borough boundaries.

Goal
To create a flexible, green and community-focused parklet that enhances the public realm, encourages sustainable travel, and provides a peaceful, nature-rich environment within a dense urban setting.

Scope
The project involved the design, fabrication and installation of a large-scale modular parklet structure. This included integrated seating, extensive planting, cycle parking and a bespoke trellis feature.
