Project overview
Meristem Design collaborated with principal designer Melody Wier to bring Davines’ first UK training facility to life. Located in a prime industrial space near King’s Cross, London, the project merged the building’s raw aesthetic with biophilic elements, creating a harmonious and serene environment. By integrating reclaimed materials and lush planting, the space now offers a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere for trainees and visitors alike.

Goal
The design brief was to retain the industrial aesthetic of the building, softened with some modern touches and planting to bring a feeling of calm and serenity to the interior.
Scope
The project encompassed interior greening throughout including a reception area with a striking living wall, a corridor lined with tropical plant-filled planters leading visitors through the space and hidden horticultural lighting.

Solutions
To seamlessly blend nature with industry, we implemented several innovative design choices.

The fusion of lush greenery with industrial elements fosters a unique, inviting environment while the use of reclaimed materials and intelligent lighting boosts their environmental impact. Through biophilic design, the project has helped improve wellbeing and contributed to a calming atmosphere, benefitting both trainees and visitors.
