Thames Water has launched the first round of funding for its AMP8 Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) Delivery Programme (2025–2030), following the success of AMP7. With £2 million allocated for the first round, the call for projects is now open, with applications due by 13 October 2025.

This is a major opportunity for organisations across Thames Water’s region to secure funding support for sustainable drainage projects that will:

Reduce pressure on sewers and drainage systems, reducing the risk of flooding and water pollution
Enhance biodiversity and green infrastructure in urban areas
Improve public spaces and create healthier, more flood resilient communities
Increase the amenity of community areas

Eligible applicants include local authorities, schools, charities, community organisations, and businesses.

At Meristem Design, we have successfully delivered multiple SuDS projects through AMP7, including:

Kenilworth Green Pocket Park in Merton features a large rain garden capturing surface water runoff and boosting biodiversity

Parking spaces along both sides of Esther Road were repurposed into rain gardens to capture rainwater

Multiple rain gardens were installed outside a school along Brooke Road to prevent flooding and manage rainwater
