Transforming University Spaces: University of Sunderland Custom Street Furniture
Meristem Design worked to transform a large concrete quad at the University of Sunderland into a communal green space at the heart of campus. The project brought together custom planters, parklets and street furniture to create a greener and more welcoming environment for students and visitors.
We designed, fabricated and installed two bespoke mini parklets, 30 custom planters, seating, tables and two ivy-covered trellis archways. The planting scheme was also specifically selected to suit the coastal conditions of Sunderland, including exposure to salty sea air.
