Project overview
The project involved the reuse and relocation of 16 jasmine green screens that we originally installed at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026. Delivered in collaboration with Mobilane, the screens formed part of a temporary show garden feature designed to create a welcoming entrance experience. Following the event, Meristem worked with Harrow Council to identify a new permanent location for the screens in Harrow Town Centre. The project demonstrates a sustainable approach to temporary installations by extending the life and therefore the value of green infrastructure.

Goal
The aim of the project was to repurpose high-quality green infrastructure from a temporary exhibition setting into a long-term urban setting. The intention was to introduce greenery, scent and visual improvement into a busy, hard, grey pedestrian route. The project also planned to enhance connectivity between key transport locations and a popular retail high street while improving the overall experience of the public realm.

Scope
The project spanned the stretch of a pedestrian-heavy route that leads from the town centre to the bus and underground station. 16 jasmine green screens measuring 1.8m high were placed into powder-coated corten steel planters along the route which previously had minimal greenery.

Solutions
The project focused on reusing green infrastructure that was originally intended to be temporary to transform a heavily pedestrianised route into a greener, more welcoming corridor. By repositioning the existing jasmine screens, we introduced an immediate visual impact and sensory planting benefits without the need for a full landscape reassessment. We removed the green screens from timber planters at the RHS into pre-existing steel planters in Harrow to make use of current infrastructure the council already had at hand. The timber planters will later be repurposed for a future project.

Impact
The relocation of the jasmine green screens has transformed a previously hard pedestrian-heavy space with little greenery into a more welcoming and sensory-rich green corridor. The installation now provides a consistent green presence that enhances the everyday movement that takes place through the town centre.
