Project overview
Meristem Design delivered high-quality planting solutions and green infrastructure in 2020 for CBRE’s Indigo House – a historic building set within a conservation area in Richmond to enhance the site’s visual appeal.
Goal
To create an attractive, low-maintenance green boundary that screens the office from the car park and softens the hard landscaping, without compromising the building’s historic character.

Solutions
The green infrastructure included refreshing existing raised planters and installing custom trellis plant systems to create a vibrant space.
Bespoke planters with trellis
Powder-coated steel planters with built-in trellis were installed along the boundary wall. These provide a durable, contemporary finish suitable for the historic setting.
Climbing plant selection
Trachelospermum jasminoides (star jasmine) was chosen to climb the trellis - offering evergreen coverage, fragrant white flowers, and a long season of interest.
Mediterranean planting scheme
A large raised planter was refreshed with hardy, drought-tolerant Mediterranean species, keeping maintenance costs low while ensuring visual appeal.
Additional planters along borders
Further planters were added to soften the building edge and provide a calming feel to the space.
Impact
We were delighted to fabricate and install the vibrant green infrastructure at Indigo House in Richmond, improving biodiversity and creating a calm aesthetic within the historic space.
