Project overview

The first-ever Paddington Café was created within Paddington Station as a welcoming space where commuters, travellers and fans of the iconic character could relax and enjoy food, drinks and a uniquely themed environment. The café interior combines rich colours, natural materials and playful design references inspired by Paddington Bear’s story and heritage.

As part of the interior concept, Meristem Design was commissioned to design, install and maintain a feature living wall that would introduce lush greenery into the café, enhancing the atmosphere and providing a calm visual contrast to the busy station surroundings.

Goal

The goal of the project was to create a vibrant green feature that complemented the café’s warm and welcoming design while introducing elements of nature into a high-traffic transport environment. The living wall needed to contribute to the immersive café experience while remaining resilient and easy to maintain within a busy hospitality setting.

Scope

The project included living wall design, plant selection, system installation and ongoing horticultural maintenance to ensure the installation continues to thrive.
