Project overview
We worked in collaboration with Merton Council to deliver a hospitality-focused parklet outside The Old Frizzle, a popular pub and restaurant in Wimbledon. The project transforms former paved street space into a welcoming outdoor area for seating, planting and socialising.
Designed to support local hospitality while enhancing the public realm, the parklet introduces greenery and activity into what was previously a hard, grey streetscape. The scheme contributes to a more vibrant and people-focused street environment, encouraging visitors to spend more time in the area.

Goal
The primary goal of the project was to create an attractive and functional outdoor space that supports hospitality while improving the surrounding street environment. By extending dining space into the street and introducing greenery, the scheme reassigns road space for people and encourages a more social, welcoming space.

Scope
The project consisted of a 15m x 1.8m hospitality parklet located directly outside The Old Frizzle. The scheme included seating for more diners and planters to enhance the space visually and environmentally.

Solutions
The parklet was designed to bring a functional aspect for hospitality use as well as improvements to the wider public realm. Creating a space that was both practical, visually engaging and environmentally beneficial was key to this project.
