Lingham Street LTN Planters

Greening school streets with greenery and colour : Lingham Street LTN Planters

Meristem Design worked with the London Borough of Lambeth and Cross River Partnership to design, fabricate and install a series of vibrant custom planters and street furniture on Lingham Street as part of the Stockwell Gardens LTN trial.

The scheme includes 21 planters and eight benches, with several planters positioned outside St Andrew’s C of E Primary in which we held a nature workshop to create greener a and more welcoming environment right outside the school gates.

The scheme combines planting, seating components from our Allium range and interactive features to create a more engaging public realm alongside the LTN measures.

Colourful Planters

We selected bold and vibrant colours to brighten up the concrete-heavy streets in the Stockwell Gardens area

Integrated Seating

Combined street furniture from our Allium range were integrated alongside the planters, creating opportunities for residents and school children to stop and rest

Interactive Features

Incorporated blackboards on planters outside the school and a bespoke archway connecting two planters, with lettering that reads 'Reach for the stars'

Nature Workshop

Worked with pupils from St Andrew's C of E primary school to plant up the planters outside their school and learn about the importance of green infrastructure

The completed scheme adds greenery, biodiversity and places to rest along Lingham Street, helping to create a more people-friendly environment and encourage active travel around the school and wider area. By combining the street furniture with community involvement, the project supports Lambeth’s ambition to make its residential streets more welcoming and enjoyable to use.
