Project overview
As part of Liverpool City Council’s Greening Liverpool strategy and supported by funding from EIT Climate-KIC’s Sustainable Cities Mobility Challenge, Meristem Design delivered the installation of 30 metres of green screens along Bath Street. Positioned adjacent to a key cycle route, these green screens transform a previously graffiti-covered retaining wall into a vibrant, plant-covered landmark – boosting biodiversity, improving air quality, and softening the urban landscape.

Goal
To rejuvenate a neglected wall along a popular active travel route by introducing green infrastructure that improves environmental quality, complements future cycle lane upgrades, and demonstrates the potential of scalable, low-maintenance urban greening.

Scope
- Deliver and install 30m of pre-grown green screens along the Bath Street cycle path
-
Help reduce pollution, absorb CO₂, and create a more inviting public space
-
Integrate the installation with Liverpool’s wider active travel improvements and public realm plans
