Project overview
Milton Keynes has faced persistent flooding issues due to heavy rainfall overwhelming local drainage networks. In response, a flood mitigation program led by Milton Keynes City Council has been launched to address these challenges. As part of this initiative, SuDS planters were installed throughout Coffee Hall, a flood-prone estate, to improve water management, reduce pressure on drainage systems, and enhance the area’s flood resilience.
Goal
The project aimed to mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall and localized flooding in Coffee Hall by implementing Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) planters. These planters are designed to collect, store, and manage rainwater sustainably, providing a resilient solution to flooding while enhancing the local environment.
Scope
The SuDS planter installation targeted key locations across Coffee Hall including a local primary school, youth centre and various other residential and community spaces.
