The project aimed to enhance the visual appearance and atmosphere of the public space by introducing planting and greening at different locations in the area. Alongside boosting greenery, the project also planned to create a stronger sense of identity and welcoming with bespoke branded elements positioned along key walking and active travel routes.

We designed, fabricated and installed a range of bespoke steel planters across two locations: Cuming Street and Church Street. The worked included galvanised powder-coated steel planters featuring custom “Welcome to Normanton” vinyl branding, alongside corten steel planters incorporating integrated green screens and vibrant planting schemes tailored to uplift the surrounding environment.

The scheme included three galvanised powder-coated steel planters with vinyl branding and five corten steel planters with 1.8m Hedere helix Woerner green screens.

The scheme introduced a combination of branded planters, vertical green features and biodiverse planting to improve the character, hygiene and usability of the area. The installations were designed to create more visually engaging pedestrian spaces while contributing to wider public realm enhancements. Some of the  plants used in the project include:

• Euphorbia amygdaloides var. robbiae

• Erigeron karvinskianus

The completed scheme introduced greenery and visual interest into busy public spaces in Normanton while helping create a more welcoming environment for residents. A combination of planting, stronger branding and green screens, the scheme has contributed to a more positive and attractive streetscape.
