The project aimed to create stronger environmental quality along Wellesley Road by introducing resilient planting that complements the wider streetscape and supports the council’s regeneration works. By integrating new trees and wildflower landscapes along a central reservation on one of the borough’s busiest roads, the scheme improves biodiversity, enhances visual character and contributes to a more attractive route for people travelling through Croydon.

The project included the installation of 407m² of wildflower turf alongside 15 semi-mature trees within the central reservation along Wellesley Road. The planting comprised of 10 Malus ‘Evereste’, 1 Parrotia persica ‘Vanessa’, 1 Ginkgo biloba and 3 additional Prunus ‘Sunset boulevard’. We also provide ongoing maintenance to support successful establishment and long-term performance.

Working alongside FM Conway’s excavation and hard landscaping improvements, we delivered a scheme designed to introduce biodiversity and lasting greenery into one of Croydon’s busiest transport corridors.

The completed landscape forms an important part of Croydon’s town centre regeneration, helping transform Wellesley Road into a greener and more attractive space while supporting biodiversity and long-term climate resilience.
