The goal of the project was to support Camden’s vision of creating more people-friendly streets and to repurpose parking spaces into outdoor dining areas. As part of the Streateries programme, the parklets demonstrates how reallocating road space can strengthen local businesses and footfall while introducing more greenery into a densely populated environment.

Our role in this scheme involved designing, fabricating, installing and maintaining modular balustrade parklets that could be customised by local businesses. Positioned on the road, the parklets takes up a number of on-street parking spaces, creating an accessible extension of the pavement for more outdoor dining opportunities.

Designed as part of Camden’s wider Streateries programme, the Charlotte Street Parklets transform former parking bays into a flexible outdoor space that supports local businesses while enhancing the public realm. Combining a robust structure with integrated planting, the parklets aims to create a greener, more inviting streetscape in one of London’s busiest dining destinations.

The Charlotte Street Parklets demonstrate how single parking spaces can deliver lasting economic, environmental and placemaking benefits. By combining seating and greenery, the scheme enhances one of London’s most iconic restaurant street while supporting the businesses along it.
