To replace temporary LTN planters with permanent SuDS rain gardens that improve the streetscape, enhance biodiversity, manage rainwater sustainably and create more welcoming, engaging environments as part of Camden’s Healthy School Streets programme.

The Camden SuDS project included almost 60m2 of rain gardens with more than 400 plants. The project included high-quality planting, playful public realm features and landscaping improvements that support long-term climate resilience while creating attractive spaces for the local community.

The Hammond Street and Islip Street rain gardens transformed temporary LTN planters into permanent SuDS features that combine sustainable drainage with high-quality public realm improvements. Through resilient planting, interactive design elements and biodiverse landscaping, the scheme delivers long-term environmental benefits while creating greener, more welcoming streets as part of Camden’s Healthy School Streets initiative.
