The project aimed to provide a practical, weather resilient space for cyclists while contributing to the wider improvements taking place to change the city centre environment and encouraging more sustainable journeys into the city.

The scheme included two cycle shelters, one larger and one smaller, both featuring living roofs planted with sedum, hersb, grasses and other species, as well as integrated lighting.

The shelters combine cycle infrastructure with planted green roofs, introducing an environmental element without taking up more ground-level space.

The cycle shelters contribute to Hereford’s wider city centre improvements by combining active travel infrastructure with urban greening.
